Brad Koen

Brad is a co founder of African Alpha Investment Partners, our London domiciled FSA registered Advisory and Capital Raising specialists. Prior to that, Brad enjoyed a 20 year career at Standard Bank in the key roles of Global Head of Global Markets (17 years) and Global Head of Investment Banking (3 years), the last 10 years being stationed in London.

He joined Standard Bank in 1992 after serving articles and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Delloitte Pim Goldby, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

During Brad’s career at Standard Bank, he built the trading and sales operations of the Group spanning 30 countries across the emerging market globe, trading across the spot and derivative spectrum in foreign exchange, interest rates, credit, equities, and commodities. He also formed the Global Debt Capital Markets and Securitisation businesses, assisting clients in raising capital from Global Investors. Under his leadership, Standard Bank has long been a leader in all of these products and the first South African bank to successfully lead the Republic of South Africa in a $1bn international bond offering.

Rupert Boyd

Rupert is co- founder of African Alpha Investment Partners. Rupert Boyd has worked in the financial services sector for over 26 years. Rupert has spent over 20 years building and running emerging market business for Morgan Stanley and Standard Bank. Since 2004, Rupert has focused on building Fixed Income, Equity Derivative and Foreign Exchange operations across Africa as well as on advising governments, corporations and financial institutions on doing business across the African continent. In particular, Rupert has extensive contacts across the global investment community.

 

John Austen

john austenJohn has served as a divisional director of a listed insurance brokerage and services company. He founded and headed up their Financial Markets division and moved on to spear-head their Integrated Risk Solutions company as COO. He was then appointed as Managing Director for several divisions within the company which were then the broker to the likes of the JSE, SAFEX, Bond Exchange, STRATE and others.

Lars Forssman

Lars-ForssmanLars recently left a Public Insurance Company as an Executive Board Member. He served as an executive in a listed brokerage where amongst his various responsibilities as business development, management of binders and niche businesses. He also served as the president of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng in 2007 and thereby displayed a strong commitment to the insurance industry.

 

Jame Skuse

Jame worked in London for two years as a Fund Accountant at a Japanese and an American Investment Bank. He then trained Financial Advisors on Investments before starting at Southern Cross where he is currently the Head of Liabilities and Investments. He is a Chartered Management Accountant and has passed all 3 level’s of the CFA exam.
